Training and behavioral consulting for dogs:
Dan's job is to train you to train your dog. This begins with a few screening questions usually by email or phone. If you and Dan are a good fit, you can arrange a behavior consultation to put your heads together and develop a training plan to address your specific situation.
Consultations require about an hour and a half and can be timed conveniently around your scheduling needs and normally take place in your home. Dan does not have a facility where you could travel to him but other options include meeting remotely via video chat, telephone or even doing a consultation by email. The cost of a consultation is determined by the number of pets involved (Dan offers a multi-pet discount) and your distance from Dan if you're doing a consultation in-person. The base rate (one pet, meeting within 25 miles of Dan's home) is $162 plus tax.
Follow-up after the consultation is usually a very important part of training. Dan offers follow-up sessions individually (you pay per session) or you may ask about enrolling in a concierge-style monthly training plan (membership is limited)
Here are the options and base prices:
A single session, up to one hour, for $95 (plus tax). This is ideal for following up after a behavior consult or when you want to focus on one specific skill or area of concern. The session can be in-person or remote.
A single, but longer, session of up to two hours for $162 (plus tax). When an hour just isn't enough! Session may be in-person or remote.
Concierge Plans: your trainer on retainer!
Training a dog requires consistent commitment, just like an exercise routine or when you learn to play a musical instrument. Meeting regularly can help keep you on track so Dan offers a limited number of Concierge Plans for those folks who want a high level of consistent follow up. These plans are discounted to reward commitment and keep the consistent training schedule affordable. Be aware that if you enroll in a Concierge Plan, you are committing to training within a certain time period. You are not pre-purchasing a number of lessons to be used whenever. These plans aren't for everyone. There are plenty of reasons why your best option might be to pay per session. But if you do like the idea of meeting regularly, check out the following options:
One Month Training Plan: $350 (plus tax) This plan starts at the beginning of a calendar month and covers your training needs for that entire month! This is full service training which includes up to 4 live sessions (in-person or video chat) and ongoing support for the whole month from Dan by text message and email, all right at your fingertips and scheduled conveniently around your availability. With a concierge plan, you get your sessions at a discount compared to what you would pay per session.
Many training goals can be fully realized within a month's time although most dogs and their humans benefit from further "schooling" which is why Dan also offers the...
Three Month Training Plan: $975 (plus tax) This plan provides three whole consecutive calendar months of full service training including up to 12 live sessions. This plan has all the benefits of a One Month plan but provides a bigger discount as a reward for your commitment to training! This plan is a great fit for new puppies and newly adopted dogs. It’s also an ideal way to help you make progress in a serious behavior case or when you're working towards advanced training goals such as off-leash reliability.
The Stay-in-Touch Option: suggested charge of $20 per month. Dan will never ignore a client asking for help or who reaches out with a question or concern. He spends hours every day responding to text messages and email and phone calls in order to provide a high level of support to all his clients, past and present. Paying something for this service helps Dan set aside the time needed to give you the attention you deserve. The suggested payment is $20 per month or whatever you think the help is worth. Dan accepts Venmo @TrainerDanLLC or he can email you a link for secure remote payment.

A few more details...
-Remote live sessions are done in real-time by FaceTime, Google Meet or Zoom if you have the technology, but Dan also consults by phone or email if live video sessions are not an option.
-Does your behavior situation involve more than one pet? Each pet is unique and deserves targeted attention. That said, Dan knows that it's expensive to own several pets (he has 5 dogs and 3 cats) so he offers a significant discount for multiple pet households. When you contact Dan, be sure to fill him in on your specific multi-pet situation and ask for an estimate. This helps Dan provide his usual high level of personalized, individual attention to each pet but without breaking the bank!

The Fine Print:
- Sales tax is typically charged at the Onondaga County/New York State combined rate of 8%
- There is a hefty processing charge that Dan has to pay if you wish to pay him by credit or debit card. For that reason, please consider writing a check or using Venmo (friend-to-friend transactions have no fees).
- Dan is happy to make in-person house calls to help folks with their dog and cat behavior problems. Dan budgets his time to allow for up to 30 minutes of travel. Beyond that, additional time spent traveling limits his availability for other clients and costs a bit in gas and maintenance on his old Rav4. For this reason, please expect a charge of $1 per mile for travel over 25 miles from his home in Camillus.
- Dan needs to have proof on file that your pet has been vaccinated against Rabies. A current rabies certificate is acceptable proof. A veterinary receipt or rabies tag is not sufficient. You can take a photo of your rabies certificate and text or email to Dan prior to your first in-person session. Puppies and kittens are exempt from this requirement until they reach 16 weeks of age. Exceptions might be made for older puppies and kittens at Dan's discretion if compelling reasons exist for why Rabies vaccination has not yet occurred.
- You agree to hold Dan and his company, Trainer Dan LLC, not liable for injury, illness or property damage and agree that Dan and Trainer Dan LLC will not, under any circumstances, reimburse or provide compensation for medical expenses, veterinary expenses, or property damage except as required by law.
- The outcome of training and behavior consultations cannot be guaranteed. Payment is due at or before the time of service and is non-refundable once services have begun or after 90 days in the event service has not started, whichever comes first.
- The concierge packages allow up to a stated number of sessions whether in person or via remote method within a certain time period. The time period runs the stated number of months beginning on the first of the month or, in certain cases where expressly stated, on the day of the first session. There are no refunds if you utilize fewer than the maximum number of sessions. An unused session may, at Dan's sole discretion, possibly be carried over a week or two if compelling circumstances occur such as bad weather, illness or other misfortune.
- If you postpone or reschedule with less than 48 hours warning more than once without a valid reason (illness, emergency, serious weather event, etc) or if you aren't available or no-show to a training lesson more than once, Dan reserves the right to charge you for the scheduled service.
- By agreeing to work with Dan, you are agreeing to all these terms.
