We love our cats. Humans and Felines go way back in history and it shows. What's more soothing than a cat's purr? How can you resist the affectionate rub of a feline cheek against your leg? In fact, cats have recently replaced dogs as the most popular pet in America. Yet to most human beings, cats appear so mysterious and aloof. It seems hard to know what they're thinking and why they do the things they do.
As our feline friends have transitioned with us to suburban and urban lifestyles, new problems have cropped up, threatening the great relationship between cats and humans. Every year, far too many cats and kittens are given away, turned out of their homes, subjected to painful and unnecessary amputations, or simply "euthanized" for engaging in natural but unwanted behaviors like scratching furniture or urinating outside of the litter box. Desperate owners try various remedies and usually believe they've done all they can. But they haven't! Consulting an experienced behavior expert is the best way to not only address unwanted behaviors, but also to prevent these problems from developing in the first place.
Cat behaviors are strongly influenced by environment. Most behavior problems are the result of problem environments. In general, before Dan can advise you on a behavior problem, it is necessary to come to your home to assess the environment and your cat. Whether you have a cat that won't use the litter box or a feisty feline that's made your furniture into a scratching post, Dan will work with you one-on-one to address the issue.
Housecalls are $145 and can take from one to two hours with a written behavior plan provided within a few days of the appointment. For each additional cat involved, add $50 to the price of the initial consult. Follow-up is usually conducted by phone or email at no additional charge. Follow-up housecalls are $85 (no additional charge if there are other cats).

Sometimes Dan doesn't need to actually meet your cats or see their environment in person to advise you on a behavior problem. In such cases, a consult with Dan may be conducted remotely by phone or by email. Contact Dan to see if this is the right option for you!
A behavior consult done in this manner costs $120 with a written behavior plan provided either in the course of an email exchange or within a few days of a phone consult by mail or email.
